The Tigers' Den May Newsletter: An Amazing Start to Spring!

May Newsletter Header

What a spectacular couple of months it has been at MLK! April and May have been bursting with school pride, championship trophies, inspiring community connections, and heartwarming moments of giving back. Our students and staff have been working incredibly hard, and the results are nothing short of amazing.

Here is a quick sneak peek of what you’ll find inside this month’s edition of the Tigers’ Den MLK Newsletter:

History Made: Undefeated District Champions!

The history books will need a rewrite after what our Tiger basketball teams just pulled off. Both our 7th/8th Grade Girls team and our 7th/8th Grade Boys team took home the District Championship titles! Neither team tasted defeat all year, capping off their flawless, undefeated regular seasons with a perfect run through the tournament. Go Tigers!

Inspiration & Innovation at Career Day

Our annual Career Day was an absolute blockbuster success! Students got a firsthand look at a world of future possibilities.

  • Creative Minds: Students gained professional insight from local chefs, an architect, musicians, and inspiring business owners.
  • Hometown Heroes: Atlantic City’s finest Police officers, Firefighters, and EMTs brought out their fleet of emergency vehicles, giving students a thrilling, hands-on demonstration of the life-saving technology keeping our city safe.
  • Future Pathways: The Atlantic County Institute of Technology (ACIT) joined the fun, showcasing incredible fields like dental assistance, cosmetology, Jr. ROTC, and more.

Big Hearts & Sweet Rewards

Our youngest Tigers have been doing big things! Our amazing Pre-K team hosted a highly successful Alex’s Lemonade Stand Fundraiser, rallying the school to raise money for a vital cause. Meanwhile, the First Grade team, alongside Ms. Percy, debuted Munchkin Mondays—a fantastic new program where our first graders earn a sweet treat for showing stellar behavior and doing the right thing.

Celebrating Our Leadership & Staff

We made sure to shower our incredible staff with love this month. We honorably celebrated Principal Burroughs for National School Principals Day, and extended the gratitude to our entire school family with special events during Teachers, Staff, and Nurses Appreciation Week. MLK wouldn't be the magical place it is without them!

Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger

The excellence doesn't stop when our students graduate. This month, we look back with pride at several of our former MLK Tigers who were recently honored at the high school for achieving some truly incredible milestones.
